Utah Company Announces Solution for Classroom Security

A company in Utah manufactures a ballistic doors for schools and hotels

CENTERVILLE, UTAH, August 8, 2013 – International Armoring Corporation (IAC), the world leader in passenger vehicle armoring, announced today a new solution to the concern over school and classroom security. Incorporating the same technology used for over 20 years to protect Presidents, Head-of-State, Business executives and even the Pope against armored assailants, IAC has developed ballistic white boards and wall panels to protect students in the classroom. Known as Safeboards™, these bullet-resistant “walls” are concealed and discreet whiteboards and bulletin boards until an intruder threatens the students/teachers safety. Once an intruder alarm is sounded, teachers and students can quickly (within 10-15 seconds) be fully concealed and secure behind a sealed Safeboard™ wall

The idea behind Safeboard™ came from school administrators looking to IAC for a viable solution to classroom security. The Safeboard™ is designed to protect against virtually every weapon that can be mounted to the shoulder. Safeboard™ incorporates the Armormax® technology, an armoring material developed by IAC that has been independently certified by U.S. Government testing laboratories. Safeboard™ is designed with functionality and cost in mind. Prices range from $1,850 to $5,950 per classroom (plus installation, one time cost) or approximately $60 – $200 per student. Once installed, Safeboard™, will benefit students for the life of the school. Safeboard™ is Patent Pending.

Andrew Burton, VP of Development at IAC said “Like our armored vehicles, Safeboard™ is designed to a provide peace of mind. With Safeboard™ this is especially true to the parents of the students and the teachers who are entrusted with their children”. He further stated that “Safeboard™ was designed to be a functional classroom tool (whiteboard, bulletin board, shelves, etc.) and appear as part of the classroom. All this while being a cost effective security solution for all schools”
